One of my favorite books on the topic
I think it’s the kind of book that is best appreciated if you have no expectations of it. The book is really excellent but you will probably not find what you expect. If you are looking for specific rules to follow for writing better sentences, you’ll be disappointed. The book is about developing the intuition to know what makes a good sentence. There are barely any examples, except the four thousand sentences that comprise it.
It’s an advanced book. You don’t have to be a writer to enjoy it. You have to read a lot and write occasionally and be familiar with the special feeling of choosing words and trying to make them come alive. This book will help you think about writing in a way you never have before, using metaphors to appreciate writing under new perspectives.
Words on paper have never felt so alive. Writing is so much more than expressing ideas using words. Writing is living.
