Relearning a gift you were born with
There are many areas in which being an adult makes us less competent. Mindfulness, play, and of course, creativity. It may seem stupid to read a book about creativity when we all experienced what it meant to be creative when we were children. Trust me, we need this book to remind ourselves what art is really about. This book is terrific. Making a great book is not easy. Austin Kleon gets it done every single time. This new book is no different. Still short, still full of insights, still impossible to put down.
Tackling creativity through the eyes of children is a wonderful initiative and such an obvious idea when you watch your kids make “art” (what they simply name play). You don’t have to have kids to appreciate this book. You were a kid once, and that kid still lives inside you, ready to play again. Unlocking your creativity means treating yourself the way you would treat him. That little kid deserves to be taken care of.
